TopSolid'Cam 7 Hint #140
TopSolid’Cam provides a smart way to manage thread milling operations. Rather than creating a special menu, you can use an option of the Drilling/Threading menu.
In this video, we choose the cylinder, then we define the machining we want to perform (here, a threading instead of a simple drilling). The default tool proposed by TopSolid’Cam is a rigid tap, but if we check the Contouring box, a thread mill is then available. Note that this principle also applies to drillings by contouring with a mill.
By refining the settings (such as the norm of the fillet, if it is not included in the part definition), we obtain the expected result. Like all other operations, it can be easily applied and adjusted to other cylinders.
